March 6, 2025, 10 am EST
March 14, 2025, 5 pm AEDT
In a joint effort, the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committees of the International Zebrafish Society (IZFS) and the Zebrafish Disease Models Society (ZDMS) have organized a first-time webinar to provide the Zebrafish research community an opportunity to discuss topics relating to diversity, equity and inclusion. This online seminar is free of charge and will take place on two dates and time zones to allow participation from around the globe. These two meetings will include invited talks by Rachel Brewster (March 6th, 2025, 10 am EST) and Diane Fatkin (March 14th, 2025, 5 pm AEDT) who will share their experiences and insights. Participants will then get the chance to join break-out rooms and discuss and propose ideas that will improve scientific research related to the following topics:
Women in Science Leadership: where are we right now?
Geography of science: Equal opportunities?
Work-life balance: Is it a real thing or is there only sacrifice?
Mental health and resilience in research life: are we supportive enough?
Research under political/military conflicts: should researchers get involved?
Researchers who reach far beyond their disabilities: abeleism?
Scientific interactions and cultural differences: are we aware?
