Abstract Submission Information

  • Early May, 2016 – Abstract Submission Opening
  • July 22, 2016 at 11:59pm EST – Abstract Submission Closed
  • July 22, 2016, 11:59PM EST – Deadline for conference award applications.
  • August 22, 2016 – Notification of travel award winners.
  • August 24, 2016 – Abstract submitters will be notified of acceptance
  • September 1, 2016 at 11:59pm EST – Early bird registration rate cut off. All accepted abstract presenters are to be registered by this date in order to receive the reduced registration rates.
  • September 11, 2016 – Deadline to book hotel rooms.

Instructions for Conference Award Application for ZDM9 meeting


Faculty and Trainee members of the Zebrafish Disease Models Society who submit an abstract for the ZDM9 meeting are eligible to apply for a travel/conference award. Conference award recipients are expected to be the presenter for the abstract at the meeting, either oral or poster presentation.

Note: applicants are expected to pay the annual ZDMS membership fee in order to be eligible for an award. If you are not currently a member of the ZDMS, please click the membership link to join or to renew your 2016 membership. Faculty membership is $175, and trainee membership is $90.

Preference will be given to applicants whose abstracts receive high priority scores from the scientific committee and those demonstrating financial need.

Applicants from the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) including Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines are particularly encouraged, as separate funds (generously provided by the Company of Biologists) have been set aside for these awards.


Please submit a single PDF comprising the following:

1.  A brief CV (4 pages maximum) similar in style to the NIH Biosketch. (Click here for ZDM9 Travel/Conference Award Application Form.)

Please include the following elements in your CV:
1a. A “Personal Statement” to outline financial need and how the travel award will help promote or enhance the applicant’s career.

1c. Positions and Honors/awards

1d. Publications (last 5 years only)

1e. Research Support (current and last 5 years only) (If no research support, please state “None”.)

2. The abstract submitted to this meeting.

3. FOR TRAINEES ONLY – a letter from PI, department chair or graduate program director on letterhead verifying trainee status.


Trainee award ($310 total): reimbursements covering meeting registration ($210), abstract fee ($50), and conference dinner ($50).

Faculty award ($500 total): reimbursement of $450 towards the meeting registration, and conference dinner ($50).
