Important Information regarding Zika:
In addition, as you may have heard, there have been recent cases of Zika in Singapore. Please rest assured that Singapore is taking many precautionary measures to ensure everyone’s safety. According to the Singapore Tourism Board, the National Environment Agency, and the Ministry of Health Singapore, Singapore remains a safe travel destination, and the well-being and health of their visitors continue to be their top priority. The first case of local transmission of the Zika virus in Singapore was detected on 27 August 2016. Since then, Singapore has put in place a robust system to mitigate the spread of Zika in the community. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also described Singapore’s transparency, regime of quick reporting and thorough response in managing the local transmission of Zika as a “role model” for other countries.
It is suggested that those traveling to Singapore take preventative measures, such as long clothing to cover bodies, arms and legs, use of insect repellent, etc.
The conference hotels, venue, and dinner venue are also taking precautionary measures by setting up daily surveillance of all outdoor landscaped areas to identify and destroy potential mosquito breeding sites.
We advise visitors to refer to the Ministry of Health’s webpage for the latest updates by visiting www.moh.gov.sg/zika.
